House Phone

The building is serviced by an intercom system via your landline telephone, which connects to the lobby. (Upon moving in, please give your telephone number to the doorman in the event the intercom is out of order. That way you can be contacted using your telephone number.

If you do not plan to have landline phone service, you still need to buy a telephone and are required to connect it in your apartment. If you do not have a working intercom phone, one will be provided to you by the building for a $50 phone fee. If the telephone wiring within your apartment needs to be repaired to make the intercom operable, the shareholder is responsible for all costs.

The doorman must call on the house phone to announce visitors and deliveries. Your telephone will have a distinctive short double ring when the doorman/visitor calls.

Just pick up the phone and answer. You will hear a distinct double tone announcing a caller on the intercom if you are on a phone call. This operates similar to call waiting, but with a different ring. To put your telephone conversation on hold, press the number 2 button on your dial pad to connect to the intercom. After talking to the doorman or visitor, you may switch back to your phone conversation by pressing the number 2 again. Should for any reason a visitor call from the intercom and the doorman is not available to announce him/her, you may activate the door buzzer by pressing the number 9 on your dial. If you do not wish to permit entry to your visitor, just hang up the phone and/or press the number 2 button to switch back to your telephone line. The door buzzer will not be activated.

When visitors ring or are announced on your intercom please be sure to have them identify themselves to your satisfaction before you permit them to enter the building.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU PERMIT ANYONE INTO THE BUILDING UNLESS YOU HAVE CAREFULLY CHECKED THEIR IDENTITY.

The security and safety of the entire building is only effective as the willingness of each resident to be conscientious in this regard.
